I have a good friend who is also a novelist, and one of her tricks is to base her characters physically on a TV or movie actor. That way, she knows exactly what they look like and it’s easier to describe them. And if she ever needs to see a certain angle or facial expression, all she has to do is head to Google images. 🙂
I must admit, Lord Rival had a rather compelling “vividness” about him … at least to me … LOL … maybe I should, in fact, try that technique more often!
